Junior Purple Belt Syllabus

Required Techniques

NB. A thorough knowledge of the White, Yellow, Orange, Green and Blue Belt syllabus (including all variations) is expected before a student is permitted to grade for Purple Belt.

  1. Valley drop throw.
  2. Counter to straight arm lock.
  3. Counters to a back arm & collar grab.
  4. Bar chokes.
  5. Roundhouse kick to kidneys.
  6. Upward rising block.
  7. Upward inside forearm block.
  8. Downward inside forearm block attacking with punch.
  9. Head, hip & knee throw.
  10. Front kick followed by side kick.
  11. Pad work - side thrust kick, left / right.
  12. Pad work - front snap kick, left / right.
  13. Wedge blocks.
  14. Counters to bar chokes.
  15. Full shoulder.
  16. Shoulder wheel throw.
  17. Novice kata.
  18. Reverse dropping body drop.

Yawara - Ancient name for Ju Jitsu
Ushira - Rear
Tanden - Abdomen/Stomach
