Junior Brown Belt Syllabus

Required Techniques

NB. A thorough knowledge of the White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue and Purple Belt syllabus (including all variations) is expected before a student is permitted to grade for Brown Belt.

  1. Arm & shoulder throw with wrist and shoulder lock.
  2. Escapes from double wrist grabs.
  3. Two shoulder dislocations.
  4. Left upward block with knife hand to neck.
  5. Roundhouse kick to solar plexus (a) left (b) right.
  6. Roundhouse kick to kneecap using heel (a) left (b) right.
  7. Upward kick to kneecap using heel (a) left (b) right.
  8. Cross ankle throw.
  9. Roundhouse kick form the ground to the lower body.
  10. Side thrust kick to back of knee from the ground.
  11. Side snap kicks (a) left (b) right.
  12. Side thrust kick to kneecap followed by roundhouse to ribs.
  13. Ways of throwing opponent from behind.
  14. Variations on leg sweeps (a) ankle (b) knee (c) loin.
  15. Attacking the back of the legs.
  16. Knife hand to neck, kick to solar plexus (two opponents).
  17. Rear throw.
  18. One handed throws.
  19. Action against two or more attackers.
  20. Inner winding throw.
  21. Outer winding throw.

Anatomy - Pressure Points

  1. Temporal artery - in front of ear or above and to outer side of eye.
  2. Facial artery - at lower margin of lower jawbone on a line with corners of mouth and in a groove in mandible.
  3. Common carotid artery - large anterior edge at level of lower margin of thyroid cartilage.
  4. Subclavian artery - behind mesial third of clavicle pressing against first rib.
  5. Brachial artery - few inches above elbow on inside of arm pressing against humerus.
  6. Femoral artery - in middle of groin where artery passes over pelvic bone.
