Junior Blue Belt Syllabus

Required Techniques

NB. A thorough knowledge of the White, Yellow, Orange and Green Belt syllabus (including all variations) is expected before a student is permitted to grade for Blue Belt.

  1. Loin or hip wheel.
  2. Variations on holding down.
  3. Scissors and naked choke hold.
  4. Spring hip throw.
  5. Three escapes from head chancery.
  6. Kicks (pad work) left / right roundhouse, left / right snap.
  7. Dropping version of body drop.
  8. Front scooping throw.
  9. Rear scooping throw.
  10. Counters against garrotting (4).
  11. Indian leg lock.
  12. Roundhouse kick whilst walking, right / left side.
  13. Holds from a head chancery (sleeper) right / left side.
  14. Outside forearm block, elbow to ribs (right / left side).
  15. Downward inside forearm block and punch (left / right).

Meja - Right
Hidara - Left
Dan - Black belt level/degree
Budo - Martial way
Soke - Head founder/successor

Top Seven from head - cervical vertabrae
Twelve (to mid back) - thoracic vertabrae
Five (to top of bum) - lumbar vertabrae
Five (at bum) - sacrum
Four (tail of spine) - coccyx
